JOHN SHAW
John Shaw has been a professional natural photographer for more than 40 years. His works have been published and featured in numerous books and magazines, including National Geographic, National Wildlife, and many more. He was also the recipient of the very first Outstanding Photographer Award given by the North American Nature Photography Association in 1997. Shaw has traveled to every single continent on photographic journeys, and his photographs clearly depict the beauty of the great outdoors.
John Shaw's photographs inspire me so much because of how they capture the beauty of Earth. He has gone to so many places around the world and is able to share their beauty with the rest of us in his photos, and this is what I ultimately hope to do through my photography. CHRISTOFFER COLLIN
Christoffer Collin is a photographer based in Karlskoga, Sweden. His photography ranges from nature landscapes and still-lives to daily life in the city. Interestingly enough, his love for photography began in 2012 on a trip to Thailand. From then, he discovered Instagram and has since become a sensation, with over 624k followers. In an interview, Collin stated : "I check the weather forecast a lot. Good sunrise and sunset opportunities, fog or something that might be interesting. Then I jump on my bike and see where I end up and what I will capture on that given day. I look for light, colors, shadows, mood, and emotion. Without really not knowing what exactly until I see it."
I love Christoffer Collin's style and approach to photography. It's simple, and I can connect to it in my own journey as a photographer. I've followed Collin on Instagram for a long time, and every time one of his photos shows up on my newsfeed I stare at it in awe. His photos are not complicated; they simply show the raw beauty of the landscape. Check him out at http://christoffercollin.tumblr.com/ .

BRANDON STANTON
Brandon Stanton is the founder of Humans of New York. He goes around New York, interviewing and taking pictures of ordinary people, usually asking them a question. He then records their answer and he posts both the photo and interview online. This all started in 2010, when Stanton wanted to take pictures of New York's inhabitants. He soon began collecting their stories, and he posted those as well. And HONY was born.
Brandon Stanton inspires me because through his posts, he's able to connect to such a large group of people on a personal level. It shows that everyone has a story worth telling, and compels people to not judge a book by it's cover. It is my dream to someday inspire and reach so many people with my photography, just as Brandon Stanton does every day. Check him and the HONY movement out at : http://www.humansofnewyork.com/

"My dad died in 9/11. They opened up the museum to families today, so I went this morning. My plan was to go to work after, but I just couldn't do it."
"What happened to him?" "He was a cop. He actually had the day off. But as soon as he heard, he drove into the city and got there just in time for the second tower to fall. A witness said that my dad had started to run when the tower fell, butturned back because a trapped woman was calling to him." "What do you remember?" "I was in science class. And my teacher told us that there had been a plane crash. That's all she said. Then I noticed all these kids around me getting phone calls and text messages, and they'd run out of class. So I knew something big was happening. Soon we got let out of school. On the ride home, I remember thinking that my dad was going to be working overtime on this. I imagined he'd be down there everyday, saving people. 'I bet I won't see him for weeks,' I said." |

"People confuse the source of their happiness. They become temporarily happy when they get a new car, or a new house, or a new marriage. And they think that they are suddenly happy because of this new thing in their life. In reality, they are happy because for a brief moment, they are without desire. But then soon another desire comes along. And the search continues."
